Who Am I?
I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Oxford in the UK. It's a fantastic city known as the "City of Dreaming Spires". If you ever get the chance to visit, IT'S A MUST!
I’ve always had a passion for writing and languages ever since I was a young boy.
Being an only child, I had to find ways to amuse myself, and one such way was writing stories.
I recently dug out an old book from our attic which included a story I wrote when I was 9 years old called "The Black Shed" - I read it out loud to my wife and parents and they are in hysterics.
Quite where I got the imaginations to write a story like that from I don't know!
I've been putting my passion of language to use as an English teacher since 2010, which was when I moved to Thailand.
I believe there is a strong correlation between teaching English and crafting effective and compelling copy.
Teaching English requires you to convey a clear, simple and easy to understand message. You have to put yourself in the mind of the learner and really think from their point of view.
The same principle applies with copywriting. You must think from the reader's point of view and not your own. What do they know? What do they want to know? What problems do they have?
I believe there are a group of 6 skills which are the cornerstone of any successful teacher or copywriter.
Brevity - the need to use words efficiently to convey maximum effect
Empathy - understand the pain of the person you are trying to help
Utility - provide content that can easily be put to use
Transformation - present a vision of what can be achieved and gained
Rapport - trust is essential
Research and Expertise - you have to be seen as an expert in what you produce

I'm a certified copywriter, having completed a Level 4 diploma from the College of Media & Publishing in the UK.
I've worked on projects to create sales brochures for training events, written thought leadership articles to be published in national newspapers and blogs for health and fitness brands, plus advertorials to promote local sports events.
